Leadership to me means having passion about what you do and perseverance to achieve your goals. I believe that leaders are ordinary people who accept or are placed under extraordinary circumstances that bring forth their untapped potential, producing a character that inspires the confidence and trust of others.
I get complete joy and delight- seeing a near abandoned Black Boy – go on to complete 4 years at Urban Prep, mature and be admitted to a 4 year college.
I believe inherently that it’s a blessing to be able to look back at where you came from, but that it’s more important to reach back. It’s remarkable to me that some 230 years after DuSable settled in Chicago, it is- although a city of world renown- still the best kept secret in the universe; A collection of neighborhoods and languages and people. I feel completely committed and responsible to always making sure that she can be the best city possible.
My greatest growth has come at times when I have stepped outside of my comfort zone.Part of my purpose in life is to bring people together around common goals and shared interests.

I love jazz and think there are stories on Black lifestyles that have been mistold, untold and need to be retold. Chicago is the greatest city and is where the world lives. Nothing like a bike ride on the lakefront in the summer time. Tennis anyone?
To whom much is given, much is expected.
Retirement is great once you adjust to it. It allows my wife and I to enjoy Chicago in the spring and summer, and enjoy traveling a great deal for the rest of the year.
