Words From The Path
I am an avid golfer. It not only provides relaxation, exercise and a friendly competitive spirit, it is a great way to talk business among colleagues. My firm belief in the mantra, “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Required,” motivates me into giving back and helping others. Taking the time to mentor the next generation is a priority for me.
My greatest growth has come at times when I have stepped outside of my comfort zone.Part of my purpose in life is to bring people together around common goals and shared interests.
I was nineteen years old, sitting in my dorm room, feverishly flipping through the pages of the autobiography of the late Reginald Lewis, founder of the private equity firm TLC Group. I was already fascinated by the fact that Lewis, a trained attorney, purchased an underperforming sewing pattern company for $22.5 million. Success is not about how smart you are. It is about how much passion and determination you have to relentlessly pursue your dream. You must be self-confident. Some may call it an ego. But you must believe in yourself, because there will be many others that will not believe in you or your idea.
I am a history buff and humanist. Learning of the struggles and triumphs of my ancestors has helped me better understand my plight and responsibility. And should my frail craft prove too slight for waves that sweep those billows o’er, I’d rather go down in the stirring fight than drowse to death at the sheltered shore.
One of the most significant challenges facing the African American Community is the quality of education provided to our youth. It is important that all of us contribute to the improvement of education in our community. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing and traveling abroad.

I believe inherently that it’s a blessing to be able to look back at where you came from, but that it’s more important to reach back. It’s remarkable to me that some 230 years after DuSable settled in Chicago, it is- although a city of world renown- still the best kept secret in the universe; A collection of neighborhoods and languages and people. I feel completely committed and responsible to always making sure that she can be the best city possible.
I am a lifelong Chicagoan and believe Chicago is the greatest City in the world!!! I love running and participating in Triathlons. I’m a die-hard Bulls fans and will only cheer for Chicago teams, except the Cubs.
